In Room 19 we have been learning about using simile to make our character descriptions more interesting. Here are some examples of children's first attempts at using simile when describing a character.

Once upon a time there was a boy called Luke and he was nineteen. He had hair as black as the night and he liked finding gold like Indy and he was adventurous. He was the tallest guy in the world.
Lydia
Once upon a time there lived a girl named Nim. She liked having adventures and she talked to animals. Her hair was like orange nectar, her eyes like a green fresh leaf as well. She was 16, smart and fast. Her skin was as light as butter. Her size was tall and skinny like a flamingo. She was an explorer.
Sam
Once upon a time there was a boy came down the road. He was called Scooby. He was nasty and adventurous. Is hair was blond as ???, his eyes green like grass.
James
Once upon a time there lived a boy who was a clown and he had butter skin and he had blue eyes like the sky. He was silly and kind and he was a clown.
Piper
Once upon a time there lived a tall girl called Victoria. She was eight years old, she had blue eyes and black hair like zebra stripes. Her skin was as light and soft as butter. She was smart, brave, friendly, adventurous, kind and sometimes silly. She liked animals and didn’t like nasty people.

Once upon a time there was a man called Indiana Jones. He was 49 years old. His hair was as grey as a rain cloud. His eyes were as brown as wood. He was as big as a giraffe. His skin was as light as the sun.
Britney
Once upon a time there lived a girl called Jessica. She had hair that was blonde like a flower. Her eyes were blue as the blue sky. She was small but tall like a tiny person. Her skin was as soft as a kitten’s fur. She was 27 years old and she was brave, smart and sometimes silly.
